The analysis of animal movement and ranging behaviour is a complex issue. A number of programs have been written, but all suffer from various limitations, that we believe could be solved by the use of several free/open source programs: * QGIS for GIS analyses * the statistical program R for calculations * optionally, GRASS, SAGA, and other software for further GIS analyses * optionally, PostgreSQL (or another database) for data storage, selection and retrieval. All software is available both for Linux and Windows operating systems. We therefore plan to produce an equivalent of the most advanced software.
