Environmental commitment

Faunalia is committed to reducing its environmental footprint as much as possible. In particular, we aim to:

• travel as little as possible, preferring to work remotely (for example, system administration via secure shell [ssh], distributing information via the web [http], etc.)
• use public transport in preference to travelling by car
• use car sharing whenever possible
• reduce our energy consumption by limiting heating and cooling
• reduce printing and reuse paper
• employ low energy consumption, environmentally-friendly office equipment
• maximise computer hardware life cycles through careful software configuration and the reuse of old components
• devote a portion of our time to conservation initiatives, in particular, through the World Conservation Union (IUCN)
• donate our skills to selected conservation projects in developing countries, through the program FreeGIS4Nature
